Historic Shrine: A Beacon of Safety for Travelers
This historic shrine, believed to have been established by imperial decree on December 29th in the 8th year of Emperor Suujin's reign (90 BC), is located on "Mikuniyama," the border of the three countries of Settsu, Kawachi, and Izumi (now Mikunigaoka). During the Nara period, it was a key point of human and horse traffic. In the Heian period, it was a must-visit spot for pilgrims to Kumano, where they prayed for safe travels.

As a pure land that belongs to no country and has no direction, the soil and sand of the shrine grounds have long been believed to ward off bad directions, attracting faith as a god of disaster prevention. Even today, many visitors come to pray for protection from misfortune when building a new house or moving. When the direction you need to go is not good, many people visit the shrine once in a different direction, a custom known as "katachigai."
Every year on May 31st, the Chimaki Festival is held, where chimaki wrapped in reed leaves are distributed to parishioners.
