Unearth the Treasures of the East at Osaka’s Ceramic Museum

The **Osaka Municipal Oriental Ceramics Museum**, nestled in the verdant and water-rich space of Nakanoshima Park in the heart of Osaka, is a treasure trove of Eastern ceramics that is renowned worldwide.

The museum was established by the city of Osaka in 1982 to commemorate the donation of the globally famous "Ataka Collection" from 21 Sumitomo Group companies. The collection boasts a quality and quantity that is first-class in the world for Eastern ceramics.

The museum's collection, centered on the "Ataka Collection", includes about 6,000 pieces, mainly Korean ceramics from the Goryeo and Joseon dynasties and Chinese ceramics. This includes 2 national treasures and 13 important cultural properties. The collection has been further enriched by donations of Persian pottery, snuff bottles, and other related collections.
