Located in the northern mountains of Minoh City, with an altitude of about 100-600m, is the Meiji no Mori Minoh National Park. Here, you can find the Minoh Falls, known as a "world-famous waterfall". The waterfall, which has been selected as one of the "Top 100 Waterfalls in Japan", has a drop of 33m, and the sight of water falling from the cliff is very dynamic.
The area around the waterfall is filled with beautiful nature, with 980 species of plants and over 3,000 species of insects. In spring, the fresh green maple leaves shine, in summer it serves as a cool spot, and in winter, the snow-covered waterfall is popular. Especially in autumn, the fiery red autumn leaves make the waterfall even more beautiful.
The Insectarium on the way to the waterfall is also famous. In addition to nearly 10,000 insect specimens, there are about 10-15 species and over 500 butterflies flying around in the large greenhouse and butterfly garden, and you can observe their ecology throughout the year.
Also, Minoh Mountain has been a sacred place for mountain Buddhism since ancient times, and there are old temples such as Takiyasu-ji (Minoh-ji), which is said to have been opened by En no Gyoja.
